She is a military veteran with over a dozen deployments to the Middle East, and this time spent overseas and the beauty she finds in misunderstood places and topics, inspires much of her writing. She has a budding horse rescue, with 7 saved in the last 2 years from kill pens, and names all the horses after authors. Book profits fund rescue operations as well as 25% being donated to a rotating list of mostly veteran-related 501c3s.
