She lives in a little house by the woods with her amazing husband, their beautiful children, two cats that don’t love her enough, two dogs that love her too much, and a whole lotta nature. Her novel Roll for Initiative, a geeky coming-of-age story came out in Fall 2022.

She was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated with her parents to the U.S. at age 7, where she learned English by watching American soap operas at their home in San Francisco. Alina’s childhood and immigration experience was the inspiration for her two latest historical fiction novels, “The Nesting Dolls” (2020) and “My Mother’s Secret: A Novel of the Jewish Autonomous Region” (2022).
